Lake Titicaca is a freshwater lake located in the Andes Mountains, on the border between Peru and Bolivia. It is one of the largest lakes in South America and the highest navigable lake in the world, with an altitude of over 3,800 meters above sea level.

Lake Titicaca is home to several islands, with the most well-known being the Floating Islands of the Uros, which are constructed with totora, a plant that grows on the lake’s shores. Additionally, the lake is home to other inhabited islands, such as the Island of the Sun and the Island of the Moon, which have important archaeological sites and are considered sacred places by the pre-Hispanic cultures that inhabited the region.

Lake Titicaca is home to a great diversity of animal and plant species, including several endemic species. Furthermore, the region surrounding the lake has a rich ancestral culture and is home to various indigenous communities that maintain their traditions and customs.

ITINERARY

Puno – Uros Floating Islands – Amantani.

Between 7:40 and 8:00 in the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to the port where a motorboat awaits us. We will take you to one of the legendary Uros floating islands, where you can observe the lives of the people who live on these reed islands, some of which are only 20 meters long. After a beautiful 3-hour boat ride, we will arrive at Amantani Island, where we will be divided into smaller groups to stay with local families. You will have the opportunity to hike to the top of the mountain (4150 meters above sea level) to see the Temples of Pachamama and Pachatata and experience the traditional customs of the island’s people. Enjoy authentic food and music prepared and performed by the local families. Accommodation: Rustic homestay with a local family. Maximum altitude: 4150 meters above sea level.

Taquile Island – Puno.

After breakfast, we will take a short boat trip to the neighboring island of Taquile, where we will explore the community and visit these beautiful people who are world-renowned for their intricate and fascinating textiles. After lunch, we will take the return trip to Puno. We will arrive in the afternoon and transfer you back to your hotel around 4 pm. End of service. Optional: Traditional lunch in Taquile.
