Maras, Salt Mines & Moray 1 Day

Duration:
1 Day

overview

Within the most important tourist sites in the Cusco region are Maras and Moray. In these places, you can appreciate part of our ancient culture in its different stages, such as the pre-Inca, Inca, colonial, and republican periods.

We invite you to learn more about these tourist attractions and their communities and rural villages, which preserve universes of colors, wisdom, and ancestral heritage.

The Urubamba mountain range and its mountains, such as Veronica, offer us breathtaking views in the land of the Incas.

ITINERARY

Maras, Salt Mines & Moray

We will pick you up from your hotel at 08:00 am in our tourist transportation to begin our tour and visit the following places:

  • Moray: Considered an Inca Agricultural Laboratory, this center was where they experimented with different products, temperatures, and altitudes. The Moray archaeological site is located 7 kilometers from Maras, in the upper part of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, 38 km northwest of Cusco. The concentric circular terraces simulate up to 20 different microclimates.
  • Salineras – Salt Mines: The famous Maras salt mines, also known as “salt pans,” consist of over 3,700 small pools constructed next to the mountain of “Qaqawiñay.” During the dry season, these pools are filled every 3 days with saltwater from natural springs, which gradually solidifies. Chinchero: Land of rainbows and unique cultural expressions, such as textile art, for which it is famous.

We will return to Cusco around 04:00 pm.
